A grand event of wind lidar Industry

     July 15, 2021, “The 2021 Lidar Wind Measurement Technology and Wind Power Application Seminar” jointly organized by Chinese Wind Energy Equipment Association （CWEEA） and Nanjing Movelaser Co., LTD was successfully held in Nanjing.This is the second lidar event in Chinas wind power industry after CWEEA and Primanex held the "Wind Lidar Technology and Application Forum" in Beijing in 2018.

    The seminar received wide attention from the industry and basically covered the whole industry chain of wind lidar in the wind power field. From the classification of more than 200 people present, we can see that not only major lidar manufacturers, lidar users (developers, owners and mainframe manufacturers), but also domestic and foreign well-known third-party certification organizations and relevant government organizations, and lidar supply chain manufacturers attend the seminar. This is really gratifying for the experienced wind power practitioners like us who have opened up the wind lidar market for many years.

    As a technical seminar, most of the speakers are excellent technical personnel in the lidar wind measurement field, and the audience are also technical experts in the industry. The content of the seminar is full of practical information. With regard to the application of cabin lidar, which is most concerned by the industry, technical experts from a number of machine manufacturers shared their research results and experience cases in the use of cabin lidar. What is impressive is the report from Shanghai Electric Lu Qi, which shares the limitations of cabin lidar under atypical conditions and elaborates on the problems faced by cabin lidar. This is the rational thinking needed by a healthy industry, and it is believed that it can promote lidar R & D personnel to come up with excellent solutions.

   After that, experts from manufacturers shared the experience and cases of using lidar to analyze Wake effect and unit load. The report objectively describes the revolutionary changes brought to the industry by lidar as a new testing method, and also points out the shortcomings and shortcomings of lidar. Also, considering that many wind farms in China are built in mountainous areas, several experts also focus on the limitations of the application of Doppler wind lidar in complex terrain, and share their achievements in flow field analysis and correction algorithm research.

     Primanex, which has developed the worlds only non-Doppler lidar and successfully introduced the Chinese market for eight years, we have many things want to say in lidar application! Guo Lei, vice president of R & D of Primanex, gave a special report on "SpiDAR Serving the Chinese Market for Eight Years". He gives a review of those "things" in which lidar SpiDAR entered the wind power market: From the first step to let customers know and recognize SpiDAR, to the process that SpiDAR takes root in Chinas wind power, and finally blossoms in Chinas earth wind farms. Mr. Guo shared the story of SpiDARs deep service of wind power in China with specific application cases, including low wind speed wind farms in IV areas, high tower tube experiments in the central plain, decentralized wind farm development, space-based lidar, offshore wind power projects, etc. Although Primanex has not made such outstanding achievements in serving the wind power market in the past eight years, its unremitting efforts have been recognized and appreciated by people in the industry, which is a great encouragement to us.

    We have always believed that a healthy industry requires strict self-discipline and mutual support from empathy. This seminar is a demonstration of the spirit of openness and inclusiveness. Representatives from the lidar industry are not obsessed with the targeted development of their products, but focus on the major theme of how the lidar industry can better serve wind power.When all the reports at the seminar discussed the difficulties faced by Doppler radar in complex landforms due to the theoretical assumption of flow field uniformity, Primanex General Guos report did not even mention that SpiDAR is the only non-Doppler lidar in the world, let alone show the principle advantage of SpiDAR laser scanning small cone angle in the face of complex landforms because of its unique non-Doppler principle. This is not only a kind of responsibility, but also a kind of feeling.

     At the seminar, we chatted with colleagues who had been engaged in lidar development for a long time. We are so appreciate CWEEA and Nanjing Movelaser Co., LTD for hold this seminar. Looking back at that time, Lidar was an unfamiliar equipment in wind power industry, and we introduce the principle, characteristics, application and so on of lidar to our customers from scratch.. In particular, we not only introduce the respective principles of Doppler lidar and SpiDAR to our customers, but also compare their respective advantages and disadvantages. Time is in a hurry, eight years have passed in an instant. Most of colleagues in the industry know a lot about lidar, and customers at that time have also become experts in lidar application. In retrospect, there is a lot of emotion.

   When all wind power colleagues issued the glorious moment of "China Wind Power equipment Manufacturing Industry Action proposal to implement the 30·60 goal”, Primanex believe that we also have a solid strength in the great cause of achieving the" 30·60 "double carbon goal!
