Primanex's us-series Magneto-Optical Switch can realize the switching of optical signal among different input and output ports. It utilizes electromagnetic and Faraday rotating effect to change the polarization state of incident light beam, further to change the light beam's propagation path with the help of birefringent crystals, hence to finally realize the switching functionality.
Since its launching in Silicon Valley in the United States in year 2000, our magneto-optical switch series product has successfully served customers in the global optical fiber communication, optical fiber sensing, instrumentation, new energy and defense sectors, and already become a prestigious landmark in the field of high-end optical switches.
Primanex's magneto-optical switches are protected by a series of patents in both China and the United States. The product employs all-solid-state crystal and unique electromagnetic design, therefore does not involve any mechanical moving parts during the switching process. Consequently, it has superior performances that are unprecedented for other competing technologies such as mechanical optical switch (MOM) and MEMS switches: high speed switching (10 ms ~ 30 ms), ultra-long lifetime (> 30 Billions cycles), low power consumption (no need of external power to maintain switching state), and excellent IL switching repeatability (+ / - 0.01 dB), etc.
After over 10 years of non-stopping innovation and improvement, Primanex's magneto-optical switch has grown into a very broad product family. In order to help customers choose what they want, we categorize the product by following principles:
According to the port count, there are 1x1, 1x2, 2x2, 1x4, 1x8 and 1x16 etc;
According to the switching speed, there are regular speed version (200 ms ~ 400 ms) and high speed one (10 us ~ 30 us);
According to the directionality: since Faraday rotating effect is non-reciprocal in principle, our regular switch is unidirectional: that is to say, in the absence of switching, light passing through the regular magneto-optics switch can travel in only one-way; Any back reflection will be blocked by the switch just like a dual-stage isolator. In order to serve the optical fiber sensing industry, we developed a real bidirectional switch, of which the unique optical and electromagnetic design can allow simultaneous two-way traffic. Since the bidirectional switch involves more optical parts, it is usually more expensive than the regular (unidirectional) switch; 
According to whether it uses PM fibers: our regular switch is polarization independent, hence can use regular single mode fibers. We also developed polarization-maintaining type magneto-optical switch, which can use customer specified PM fibers to     accommodate specific  requirement of the polarization;
According to high power capability: to answer special requests of high power /or energy laser applications, we developed             magneto-optical switch of high-power version. The high-power version switch maintains all the same excellent optical, electrical, and mechanical properties as those of regular ones..
