  Ground-based SpiDAR

Ground-based SpiDAR employs revolutionary non-coherent direct detection technique, and high-speed laser scanning engine that does not involve any moving parts. By sharing the supply-chain of fiber-optics communication industry that is more attainable, affordable, reliable and mature, SpiDAR gains dramatic cost advantage over regular Doppler-based coherence systems. Such saving is passed onto the customer – and making the SpiDAR affordable to enable wind farms developers and operators to deploy multiple units in a single site; providing better, more precise wind measurements, and to some extent wind forecasting capabilities. It therefore provides a feasible solution to the wind power rationing /or abandoning.
LIDAR can provide much higher sensitivity and resolution compared against the meteorological RADAR due to that laser has a much shorter wavelength than that of microwave. Since it is less vulnerable to the ground-surface interferences, LIDAR is perfect for measure wind under 1-km which naturally complements the wind profiling RADAR. Besides, LIDAR shows great potential in such areas as environment monitoring, aviation and space, free-space optics communication etc.
