The fiber-optics interleavers can expand wavelength channel counts in DWDM systems so that the system capacity can be greatly increased to carry much more transmitting signals. Such products are categorized into the Multiplexer and De-multiplexer functional modules. The multiplexer module takes two multiplexed signals with for example 100-GHz spaced channels and interleaves them, creating a signal with 50-GHz spaced channels, the de-multiplexer module separates a signal with for example 50-GHz spaced channels into two sets of 100-GHz spaced channels. Primanex interleavers are based on Mach-Zehnder type polarization interferometer, and are designed to have “zero”-dispersion hence are perfect for high-speed 40G/100G systems which have very tight tolerances for the dispersion.
Primanex offers interleavers of 25/50GHz, 50/100GHz, and 25/100GHz etc. And with the magneto-optics switching function integrated inside, Primanex also offers tunable interleaver which can switch all wavelength signals originally located at the “odd” port into the “even” port, and vice versa.
