The us-series solid-state fiber optical switch connects optical channels by redirecting an incoming optical signal into a selected output optical fiber. The switching of the optical light is realized by utilizing Faraday Effect, which eliminates the need for mechanical movement. The s-series fiber optic switch is designed to meet the most demanding switching requirements such as high reliability and durability, ultra-fast response, and high-frequency continuous switching operation.
Primanex's regular Magneto-Optics Switch are using single mode fibers, hence are not sensitive to the polarization state of incoming optical signals. However for optical interferometer-based fiber sensing and measurement systems such as fiber-optics gyro, hydrophone sensors and Lidar etc, the use of polarization-maintaining fiber can help maintain the polarization, hence improves the signal to noise ratio (SNR) in order to realize the high-accuracy measurement. To accommodate such special requirements, Primanex offers PM-version of MO switches which can accept standard or customer-specified polarization-maintaining fibers.
